Tanya By Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz Sec 3 Chap. 11 “The Beauty of mixed emotions”

A New Tanya class By Rabbi Yitzchok Minkowicz Tanya Shar HaYichud Veemunah Chapter 11 “The Beauty of mixed emotions” In Chapter 10 the Alter Rebbe taught us that Prayer is High level Teshuva as such you need lower level of Teshuva (remorse) first however one needs to be happy when you pray & its hard to switch so quickly between such strong emotions so the Alter Rebbe explained that you do Teshuva Tatah the night before or Thursday night. In Chapter 11 the Alter Rebbe teaches us how you can have both emotions together based on a quote from the Zohar brought down in Chapter 34 of Tanya חדוה תקיעא בלבאי מסטרא דא וכו however that is referring to a Beinoni where there is a clear distinction between the G-Dly & Animal Soul however here since we are dealing with some one that sinned we need to add to the remorse a key element the we have Faith & Trust that Hashem will forgive us for our sins. The faith & trust we have is that Hashem is Kind, gracious, compassionate, forgiving תיכף ומיד with out any doubt that Hashem will forgive. We believe so strongly that Hashem will forgive as when we ask Hashem for forgiveness we make a blessing in Shemona Esrei with complete faith that Hashem is forgiving us. We say right after the blessing גאל ישראל if we would not sin right away we would be redeemed. We humans have an obligation to complete forgive even if some one caused you physical harm & you should be an אכזר not to forgive. Hence the limit of 3 times to ask for forgiveness. King David a man piece did not allow the גבעונים to join the Jewish people as they refused to forgive שאול for killing them. If we are supposed to forgive how much more so Hashem will forgive us. Hashem forgiveness is so great that as many times as we sin Hashem forgives as if it’s the first time. Hashem forgives once a year for all the big sins. Hashem forgives every day for all the positive commandments that we miss. Prayer atones for sins just like the sacrifices in times of the temple. This is not אחטא ואשוב as that applies only while your sining you rely on Teshuva here you have real תשובה remorse & your asking Hashem to forgive you there for the forgiveness is right away. If we are saying that Hashem forgives us than what is the meaning of וחטאתי נגדי תמיד since we are supposed to be happy. The idea is to keep you humble by remembering that you sinned. The reminder of the sin will allow you to experience great Joy as you will be very happy with everything & if things are going wrong you will be able to accept that with Simcha. This is also a great remedy not get angry or hold grudges. And as the Talmud teaches us. הנעלבים ואינן עולבין שומעים חרפתם ואינן משיבים עושים מאהבה ושמחים בייסורים the highest level they are HAPPY with suffering as they know they sinned & this is their atonement. And as the Talmud teaches us כל המעביר על מידותיו מעבירים לו על כל פשעיו. Live Tanya Class at Chabad Thursday Evening at 6:30P.M.
